Blog Journal #5
I had never created a website before starting this assignment, and I learned a lot from the experience. learned how to navigate the website Weebly, and the instructions given to me by my professor made this assignment easy to complete. In this assignment, I became very proficient at linking websites in a Word format, so it doesn't detract from the aesthetic of the website. I used the design principle of white space to focus the reader's attention on the words that are written to help them navigate through the website. I enjoyed the newness of this assignment, since it was something I had never done before, but finding images to fill the website's pages was difficult. When I become a teacher, I would like to put more time and energy into creating a website for my students and their parents to refer to if they ever have any questions, and I am not available to answer right away.
A creative way I can use QR codes in my classroom is by having a gallery walk. This would be an assignment where my students create their own digital work, possibly a poem, poster, etc., and the students can create a QR code and hang it up in the classroom for everyone to walk around and see. Students would easily be able to see the work of their peers, and it is a fun way to show off their work.
"While technology has undoubtedly opened new doors in education, it has also introduced several ethical dilemmas. One of the most pressing issues revolves around privacy. As educational platforms collect more data than ever before, questions about how that data is used, stored, and protected have come to the forefront. Personal information, from learning patterns to sensitive identification details, is often stored by platforms, and the risk of that data being mishandled or accessed without consent is a real concern."
If a student's educational information were to be leaked, I would be at fault, and my superiors would be as well. For this situation to be avoided, it is important that the student and their parents know what information is being collected and why. Once this information is taken, it is my responsibility and the school that I work for to keep it safe to avoid any fraudulent behavior. I must know how to safeguard any data I get from my students because information in the wrong hands can lead to identity theft.
